What are search tools available through WWU Libraries?

What are some of the search tools that I can use to find academic sources at WWU Libraries?

Answer

WALLA WALLA UNIVERSITY CATALOG

Research Central searches local books & eBooks. It may be searched in the Research Central search box on the Walla Walla University Library home page. In addition to local print and eBooks it searches Summit titles and may be expanded to include many of our databases. You may narrow to a specific campus or a particular type of material. Faculty checkouts of local materials are for one quarter. Sign in to your account for best search results and Summit accessibility.

ONLINE DATABASES

Article databases are located under the Databases link. Select by database title or discipline for a subject listing. Citation, Abstract only, and Full-Text databases are available. Interdisciplinary databases such as Academic Search Premier, Gale Academic Onefile. JSTOR and ProQuest Central are good starting places. Many databases allow you to login, save searches, place items in folders, and use permanent URLs to direct students back to the full text. Off-campus access to these databases is available through a campus network login.

SUMMIT BORROWING

Summit Borrowing provides direct borrowing from nearly 40 Orbis Cascade Alliance members in Washington, Oregon & Idaho. Summit items will come up in a default search in Research Central, or you may select ‘Summit (NW Libraries)’ to specifically search Summit.

Initiate borrowing by signing into your account and then viewing ‘Check Holdings’. There will be a link to place Summit request. You will be prompted to select your pick-up location (PML or Portland). If the item is available, it should arrive within 4 – 7 days of your request.  If you are a student taking classes remotely, talk with us about your delivery options: reference@wallawalla.edu

INTERLIBRARY BORROWING

Walla Walla University Library also offers Interlibrary Loan services for articles we do not have full text access to, as well as books not in the Summit system. Interlibrary loan request forms may be submitted via the library’s website. Interlibrary loans may take up to two weeks to arrive and the due dates for items checked out will vary from 2 – 6 weeks. Whenever possible, copies of requested articles will be sent to you electronically.
