How do I put books on reserve?

I am a faculty member at WWU and I would like to put some books on reserve. How do I do this?

Answer

The Public Services Department at Peterson Memorial Library can put materials on temporary reserve for your classes. Select material from our circulating collections at either Peterson Memorial or the Portland School of Nursing Library or provide resources from your personal collection.

Before preparing an assignment, check Research Central—the WWU catalog—to ensure a title is available locally. Students become frustrated when books or articles listed on an assignment are not available at the library.

If you cannot locate appropriate materials, contact our faculty librarians who are happy to sit down with you and suggest materials to support your assignment. Contact Reference for more information.

Reserves are housed at the Library Information Desk, located in the lobby of Peterson Memorial Library. Current students, staff, and faculty may checkout items from our reserve collection with a valid WWU ID card.

It takes up to a week for us to completely process reserves and make them available for checkout, so please plan ahead when using this service.
