Can you help me find information about former WWC instructor, Dr. Stacy D. Nelson?

I am looking for information about alum, Dr. Stacy D. Nelson, including photos, articles written by him, etc.

Answer

Typical options for finding information regarding former faculty members include books covering Walla Walla College history, articles in SDA Periodicals, our Archives Photograph Database, and of course the ASWWU publications, The Collegian, and the Mask.

Stacy D. Nelson was a Walla Walla College faculty member in the health and physical education department from 1978-1980.

Some introductory information about him is found in an introduction in a 1978 North Pacific Union (NPUC) Gleaner. "People in Transition." North Pacific Union Gleaner (1978): 9.

ASWWC publications the Mask (faculty section) and Mountain Ash (Health/Physical Education Department) include photos of Stacy Nelson for 1978-1979 and 1979-1980.

The Walla Walla University Libraries maintain a digital photo collection in which there are three photos of Stacy Nelson. Each shows his involvement with the college’s sports. You may use the link below to search for Stacy Nelson and find these photos.

There are two listings for Stacy D. Nelson in the SDA Periodical Index.

  • Nelson, Stacy. “Power Plant Complex.” Journal of Adventist Education (1988): 22-25+
    • By the time he wrote this article he had obtained his PhD and was chair of AUC’s Physical Education Department.
  • Southern New England: Pioneer Valley Academy News.Atlantic Union Gleaner (1974): 22.
    • “Mr. and Mrs. Stacy Nelson are coming to us from South Lancaster Academy where Stacy taught physical education and Bible. He will be the new physical education teacher, also teaching two classes in Bible. His wife, the former Sandra Moore, is an alumna of PVA and will be nursing in the area.” (August 13, 1974. v. 73. no. 15)
  • There may be additional information in the Atlantic Union Gleaner found at the Adventist Archives under <Periodicals>, especially since he was chair of AUC’s Physical Education Department by 1988.

You may find additional sources using Google or looking through other digital Adventist sources.
