How do I find books using call numbers?
What call number system is used to arrange books at Walla Walla University Library?
Answer
Walla Walla University Library uses Library of Congress Call numbers to organize books. This call number system uses a combination of letters and numbers to arrange books by subject order in the LC Classification system.
To find a book on the shelf, look at the first letter, then read alphabetically for the second letter if applicable, then move numerically through the numbers that follow. After the decimal, once again you will use the alphabet to guide you, and numbers after the decimal are treated like decimal numbers.
The video on this page provides an overview of LC Call numbers.
