Can WWU alumni and community members use the online databases to access full text articles?

Access to the online databases and the full text articles is available on lobby computers but off-campus access is not available.

Answer

Access to WWU Libraries online database and full text article subscriptions is available on lobby computers. If none are logged in, check with the library staff at the Library Information Desk. Due to licensing restrictions, off-campus database access is not available to community, alumni, or retired faculty.

For off-campus access to scholarly literature, WWU Librarians recommend checking the following sources:

  • Google Scholar provides access to search scholarly literature, and frequently links to open access articles. It may be a good starting point for alumni or community members.
  • The database JSTOR provides limited access to content for independent scholars who do not have an institutional affiliation. You can find more information about their individual accounts on their website.
  • Check with local public libraries about online access through your public library card. Many public libraries will provide some scholarly research access through their database collections.
