How do I find articles in Nursing Journals?

Answer

Visit http://library.wallawalla.edu and select the databases link. Limit to subject 'nursing' for a complete list of possible nursing databases. One good database for nursing topics is CINAHL Complete

Enter CINAHL and you will see the Basic Search box with Search Options listed below. Before you enter your search terms you may wish to limit your results in the following way:

  • Full Text
  • Published dates (you may select specific years, such as 2019-2024)

Once search options are set, enter your search terms: simple is best!

As an example, ‘Immobility and Critical Care’ then select search to receive results.

Selecting an article title in your results will show further information including an abstract or summary, the journal it was published in, and subject vocabulary.

If the search didn’t yield exactly the results you wanted, look at subject vocabulary in the results you got for ideas of other keywords you might try.

Additional databases for nursing might be PubMed or Medline.

You can always contact a librarian if you are struggling with keywords: reference@wallawalla.edu
